About Me
Meet Your Teacher
Hello! My name is Olga Dahl, and I’m so glad you found your way here. If you’re looking to learn piano—whether for the first time, to pick up where you left off, or to help your child discover the magic of music—I’d love to help you on your journey.
My Story
I grew up in the Murmansk region of Russia in a family surrounded by music. My piano adventure began at age five, guided by my first teacher—my mom, Elena Ponomareva. Those early lessons inspired a lifelong passion!
I studied at Ulyanovsk Music College and Petrozavodsk Glazunov Conservatory, learning from wonderful teachers who helped me become both a performer and a dedicated educator. Since then, I’ve taught piano at Ulyanovsk State University, mentored dozens of students, and had the joy of seeing many go on to study at conservatories.
After moving to the U.S., I continued my musical path, earning a Master’s in Music from Ole Miss. Here, I worked with inspiring professors and expanded my musical horizons. Currently, I’m the collaborative pianist at Tupelo High School and I am pursuing my doctorate in piano performance at the University of Memphis.
My Teaching Approach
Learning piano can be both fun and rewarding! I believe music is for everyone, and my lessons are welcoming to all ages—from young children to adults, beginners to advanced. If you love music and are curious, you’ll fit right in.
Lessons focus on building solid technique, musical expression, and a true appreciation for classical music (with plenty of room for creativity). I create a supportive atmosphere where mistakes are just part of the journey, and progress is celebrated—no perfection required!
Experience & Achievements
With over 15 years teaching at the college/university level, and more than 30 successful alumni (many earning music degrees!)
I am an active performer—solo and duet competitions, plus concert appearances with orchestras. Winner of International Piano Competitions including “The Volga in My Heart,” “La Planète des Talents,” and “Sounds Life”
